Top Tricks to Create Extra Storage for the Bathroom

The bathroom is one of the few rooms in the house that is used every day by every member of the family. Unfortunately, it also tends to be one of the smallest rooms in the house. As such it tends to get cluttered quite easily, with every available surface covered in bottles, tubes, and various gadgets. Fortunately, there are a several simple ways that you can create extra storage for your bathroom without too much work or expense on your part.

Get Unconventional

There are plenty of spaces that can be used as extra storage for the bathroom. It's just a matter of thinking outside of the box to find them. A tasteful wicker basket on the back of the toilet tank turns dead space into storage space. Likewise for an over-the-door towel rack, which can generally be bought for a couple of dollars at any home goods store. A typical towel rack can usually only fit two towels. Adding an over-the-door rack allows you to save towels being dried over chairs (or on the floor), while preserving the appearance of your bathroom.

The area around the sink tends to be one of the worst culprits for clutter, with toothbrushes, soaps, and razors all vying for space. An office desk organizer or several kitchen glasses placed to the side of the sink can do wonders to make this area much more attractive.

Inside in the shower, you can create extra storage for your bathroom with a hanging toiletry rack. These racks, which hang from the shower head and can be bought for under ten dollars from any home good store or quality online retailer, will save your shower from the crowding of every ledge, corner, and windowsill with the soaps, shampoos, and razors which inevitably turn up there.

Use your free space wisely

Most bathrooms have ample space which, with a small investment, can be converted into extra storage for your bathroom. Shelves can be hung in the space above the toilet, or really on any open wall space. Likewise, sliding drawers can be installed in the space under the bathroom sink. This space is typically not used for anything, and drawers can add extra storage for the bathroom while preserving the look of the room.

Though a slightly larger investment, a free-standing cabinets are essential for any bathroom, especially if you don't have a full closet. A cabinet offers tons of storage space for everything from towels to toiletries. If you don't have wall-space for a full cabinet, you can opt for corner cabinet instead. These can provide the same storage for your bathroom, while looking much more attractive and out of the way.

Cabinetry, shelving, and drawers can typically be found at any quality home good store, or from online retailers. More and more, consumers are turning to online retailers because of the combination of excellent selection and affordable price.

With a bit of unconventional thinking, and a few small investments, you can turn a crowded and cluttered-looking bathroom into an organized and attractive space.
