Bath and Vanities: Looking at Basic Options

Your bath and vanities will always go together and will always need to look great if you want to keep a put together look in your home. Visitors will be visiting the bathroom if they are in your home and if you are like most people, you will want to make sure to make a good impression. One way you can make a great impression is by putting in a brand new vanity. A vanity can really serve as the focal point of your bathroom and you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make it look great.

Before jumping right into a remodel, consider what you need from your bath and vanities. Vanities are going to be busy areas in your bathroom, so you want to make sure they look great and have all the accessories you and your guests will need. Basic options don’t have to mean using an ugly vanity, in fact, it should be just the opposite. You probably bought your home years ago and may have never updated your bath and vanities because you just weren’t sure what was out there. You can go way beyond a simple one sink vanity with one door even if you are on a strict budget.

Wood is always a popular choice for dressing up the bath and vanities, but it doesn’t have to look like cheap plywood. There are many options that will look great and update your bathroom like mahogany or oak. Even if you choose a cheaper wood, manufacturers have gotten better at making wood varieties that may have traditionally been considered “cheap” look like an expensive type of wood. You can also find some great painted wood as well that will make the bath and vanities in your home look amazing.

Antique vanities are quite popular as well and can give your bathroom a very classic look. Modern designers can make the same look that past designers have which can give you a great antique look at a modern price. You can certainly get actual antique vanities as well if you like, but they will probably be more expensive than the modern ones or they will need quite a bit of work to make them operable and you may need to modify them to handle modern plumbing and sinks.

If you are looking for something totally different in the realm of bath and vanities, consider glass. Glass is extremely contemporary and certainly not for everyone, but it can be a stunning addition. Glass vanities combine glass with wood or steel and give a look like you may have never seen. Paired with a basin sink, a glass vanity may look like something you would see in a museum instead of a bathroom, but for people who enjoy a modern look, these are perfect.

No matter what type of vanity you are looking for in your bathroom, you should always compare prices and consider what your individual needs are. Find a designer for the best choices and options for your bathroom fixtures and designs.
