The Natural Look of Wood with Bathroom Cabinetry

If you are the traditional sort and interested in putting bathroom cabinetry in, you probably will go with nice wooden cabinets. Wood can be an excellent addition to your bathroom and cabinets will offer excellent storage for all of your linins. When it comes to bathroom cabinetry, the wood used can come in a wide variety and all will have their advantages and disadvantages.

For people who like a bright look, white wood that is painted or laminated is quite popular. This is actually the least expensive choice when it comes to bathroom cabinetry and is ideal for a small bathroom as it will make the room look larger. The disadvantage of white wood is that it scuffs easily and gets noticeably dirty, so you need to keep up on cleaning if you want it to look good.

Oak is a very popular choice for cabinets in the bathroom. Oak has a uniform look but is very grainy and you may notice variations in the grain, though they shouldn't be extreme. Oak ranges in color from yellow to red and is less expensive than other wood types, like cherry. If you want to go with a very natural look, pine will probably be the best choice for your bathroom cabinetry. Pine has a very rustic look with knots and graining all through it. This is not a wood for everyone because of this. Though pine is inexpensive, it is a soft wood and can dent very easily.

Maple is another great choice for bathroom cabinets. Maple is a hard wood and will have slight variations in the grain. Maple is a hard wood, so it is much more durable than pine and other soft woods. Maple can look a little out of focus and fuzzy to our eyes that some people don't like, so make sure you see samples of maple before making this wood the choice for your bathroom cabinetry.

Cherry is one of the most expensive woods but it is also one of the most beautiful. It is a hard wood that has gorgeous graining. There are some cons with cherry as well, even though many consider it one of the best choices. There can be major differences in color, sometimes in the same piece of wood. The colors tend to run between yellow and red. If you are considering cherry with a light stain, you want to make sure you are seeing a large quality of wood available and not just a sample. Though a sample can be great for other woods, with cherry, you really need to see more.

Finally, rounding out the more popular woods for bathroom cabinetry is hickory. Hickory is a hard wood and often compared to cherry, but it is less expensive. There are a lot of variations in color with hickory so it is important that you like that look. It basically has natural shading that goes from light to dark in one piece. When it comes to cabinets in the bathroom, the type of wood doesn't matter as much as how you feel about it. If you love the wood, you will probably love your cabinets.
