Choosing The Best Of The Kitchen Countertop Options

Kitchen Countertop options

There are so many options for countertops in a kitchen that it can be hard to choose. Budget is going to be a big determining factor in which materials are available to you. Because of the extreme range in prices, many people have a difficult time figuring out which options will best suit their needs. There is always the temptation to buy the most expensive materials available on the theory that the price must mean they're the best, but that is not always the case. With kitchen countertop options, finding the right choice to fit a particular budget and space is not all about the money.

Concrete is actually the most expensive countertop option. It can cost up to $150 per square foot. While concrete lasts forever, few people are interested in using it for their kitchen countertops. Granite and marble counter tops usually top the list for most expensive kitchen countertop materials. Concrete is so outside the norm, that it doesn't usually make the list. Granite and marble kitchen countertop options are very expensive, but highly sought after. Both natural stone materials can add a lovely touch to any kitchen, but there are some downsides that you should be aware of when considering your kitchen countertop options. Natural granite or marble countertops need to be sealed annually in order to retain their polished finish. They are also susceptible to damage from certain chemicals. Ammonia based cleaners can ruin their finish, and while they are heat resistant, if you place a hot pan directly from a burner to the counter surface, the finish is likely to be ruined.

However, while natural granite and marble are a little more fragile than most would prefer, quartz kitchen countertop options are available and they are some of the most durable counters available. Quartz kitchen countertops are made from natural materials mixed with manmade. Quartz particulates, over 93%, are mixed with polyester resin and pigments to produce a countertop that is as beautiful as granite or marble, and twice as strong. Also, the sheer number of colors available makes this a wonderful choice for most kitchens. It is also heat resistant and chemical resistant, so the finish remains flawless, even after years of use. Quartz kitchen countertop options are not inexpensive, but they are no more expensive than granite or marble. Granite countertops are very much the popular choice right now, but that is a matter of fashion and is likely to change. For pure durability and strength, along with nice aesthetics, quartz counter tops are one of the best choices.

These represent top of the line counters. Many people simply can't afford to put these countertops into their home. No worries, for those that need an inexpensive option, tile are a beautiful choice. Tile is less expensive than almost any other kitchen countertop options. Tiles can be purchased in original hand painted designs, laid out to create mosaic effects or simply put in place to create a nice counter surface. The way they are used is up to the home owner. Carefully consider all the kitchen countertop options before making a final decision.
