Important Things to Consider when Installing a Vanity with Sink

When you're choosing your bathroom vanity or kitchen units, it's very easy to overlook one of the most important features of your kitchen or bathroom, the sink. You'll be surprised how many people buy units for their home and then completely forget about the sink until the very last minute. The problem with this is that the sink then becomes an after-thought.

The sink in your bathroom is very important, and you'll be using it every day, so spend a little extra time when choosing your vanity with sink to make sure you get exactly the shape and size you want, and that your sink has all the features you want.

Installing a new bathroom vanity can greatly change the look of your bathroom, and so can the sink that you choose to go in your vanity units. You can usually buy RTA units that can be adapted to hold a sink, or you can buy a vanity with sink hole already cut out. The ready cut version is probably better for DIY, simply because cutting a hole in the middle of a vanity top is a much bigger challenge than simply cutting a bit off the end. You need to get it absolutely right in order for the new sink to fit right in the vanity top, so getting this done for you will greatly simplify the installation process.

Your vanity with sink can come in many different sizes. If you're installing a unit in a small bathroom then you may only want to choose a sink that is just large enough to wash hands. Saving space can be crucial, so don't go for anything that will look out of place in your bathroom. Generally in a larger bathroom you can go for a larger sink, or maybe even a double sink. Look at our options for bathroom lavatory or vessel sinks.

Don’t forget that when you install a vanity with sink, you'll be losing a small amount of space that might have been used as a drawer. It's surprising how many people actually forget this, and then end up without any drawer space in their bathroom. If you go for a double sink, then make sure you place a drawer or two elsewhere in your bathroom, as you'll need some place to put hairbrushes and other items that normally wouldn't go inside a unit.

All RTA vanity units with a sink should be relatively easy to assemble and put together. Don't forget to order some sealant to go around your sink when you install it. You will also need to put some around the base of your faucets when you install them. This will stop moisture getting down between the faucet and vanity countertops. These are all little things that seem fairly obvious, but it's surprising how many people forget. After all, when you have all your RTA units delivered, you'll want to get on with installing them, and not make too many trips to the hardware store to pick up forgotten items.
