Steps
- Wipe out surface dirt and dust. Frequently wipe your laminated countertops with damp soft rag or paper towels to eliminate dirt and debris. Predominantly, a porous sponge and dishwashing liquid will effectively clean the countertops. As possible, do not use abrasive sponge, scraper or steel wool on the laminate surface as this will scratch the countertop. Everyday cleaning only requires clean water and nonabrasive cotton cloth.
- Remove stains. Light stains can be removed using water and liquid detergent. Other mild household cleaner can also draw out stains. Solvents like denatured alcohol can also be used. Just follow the directions on the solvent label. Food stains, glass rings, food dyes, coffee stains and watermarks may disappear on their own after repeated cleanings. For tough stains, you may try applying a mixture of two parts baking soda and one part water on the affected area to lift the stain. The paste can be a little abrasive so, as possible, do not rub but instead wipe the paste gently with a damp, non-abrasive cotton cloth. Allow the mixture to stay on the stained area for a few minutes then rinse the area with clean warm water.
